Jerre Donald Locke, 79 of Yadkinville, NC, and formerly of Shade Gap PA, died unexpectedly at home on June 27th, 2023. Born April 21st, 1944 to Donald and LaRue (Berrier) Locke, who proceeded him in death, and is survived by his beloved wife Wilma, sisters Lucy (John ) Getz of Shiremanstown, and Rita (Kenny) Scott of Orbisonia.
Also surviving are his children, Chris (Cassandra) Locke, of Minnesota, Michele Yeager (Don Yoho) of Pittsburgh, Jeff (Danette) Locke of Huntingdon, Keith (Tracy) Renninger of Mifflin, Candi (Scott) Zimmerman of Port Royal, stepson Jason O'Cull (Sarah) of Jonesville NC and Tim O'Cull of Elkin
He is also survived by a very special Aunt, JoAnne (Don) Jamison of Fayetteville, and a brother by choice, Donald (PeeWee) Snyder of Neelyton.
Jerre was also a wonderful and loving grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 7. Also the fun Uncle of Dana(Mark) Hiedel, Matthew Scott, Kim (Jeff) Appleby, Julie (Kendall) Coates
Jerre was a printing pressman for most of his career and had a passion for anything with a motor, especially classic cars. He made excellent use of his outstanding mechanic abilities which he used in his Phat Boyz Garage with brother-in-law John, Bill Easparro, and Dan Bennett in Bendersville, restoring the classic cars. Jerre and Wilma loved regularly attending car shows and drives and hikes through the Blue Ridge Mountains together. He also loved his dogs, who could readily be found on his lap or on a walk in the woods. Lilly Mae, Molly Grace, and Maggie Mae will surely miss him and the extra treats he would sneak to them.
All of Jerre’s friends and family have a story to tell about one of his many fast cars or a time when Jerre spun mud on them while dirt bike riding. He never met anyone with whom he did not share a laugh. And if it included Walker's ice cream or Blues music, it was an added bonus!
In his younger years, he enjoyed motocross races and was a member of the Shade Gap Motorcycle race track and also enjoyed racing his micro sprint car at local race tracks, and the occasional 1/4 mile drag race from the pole yard in Shade Gap. In his youth, he had the local paper route, mowed lawns and worked with his parents in the family owned store and family farms with his cousins.
A celebration of his life will be 1:00 PM Sunday, August 6, 2023 at St. Luke's Methodist Church in Shade Gap, PA. with a reception luncheon to follow.
