Mr. Jerry Lee Millsaps, 79, of Hamptonville, went to be with the Lord, peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side. Monday, August 5, 2024. Jerry was born in Iredell County, April 13, 1945 to Lucy Cook Millsaps and Emmet Watt Millsaps. During his younger years, Jerry was in the US Army, where he was stationed in Korea, and drove for the Lieutenant Colonel. Jerry also loved to race motorcycles and won the National Motorcross Championship in 1970 and 1971. He attended Hiddenite High School, afterwards going to work in the furniture industry for several years before driving a feed delivery truck for Fex and Bartlett Milling, where he made several lifelong friends. Jerry then pulled MRI trailers for Alliance Imaging. He was a retired farmer and poultry grower, where he worked closely with his wife and son. Jerry met the love of his life, Donna Mathis Millsaps in 1969 while he was delivering feed to the Mathis farm. The two lovebirds were married, December 9, 1972. Jerry was an active member of Union Baptist Church in Hamptonville, and he was a charter member of Berea Baptist Church in Hiddenite. He was an avid lover of Model A’s and Allis Chalmers tractors. He enjoyed attending antique car shows and riding in parades. Jerry is preceded in death by his mother, Lusy Cook Millsaps, and his father, Emmet Watt Millsaps; one brother, William Grady Millsaps; three sisters, Matha Robertson Warren, Phillis Ann Morrison, and Eva Dean Adams. Surviving is his loving wife of 51 ½ years, Donna Mathis Millsaps; his devoted son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy Millsaps and Casey Millsaps; three beautiful granddaughters, Addison, Emma-Kate, and Ivy, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends, Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Union Baptist Church in Hamptonville. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM, in the church with Rev. Kenny Pardue officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post #10346. The family would like to give a huge thank you to a very special niece Debra Hubbard. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Millsaps family.
