Jesse Lee Carpenter

Carpenter Hamptonville - Jesse Lee Carpenter, 88, our loving father, grandfather, and the rock of our family, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.  Jesse was a devoted Christian who loved his family and prayed for them daily.  He was born August 6, 1928 in Hoke County to the late George and Winnie Carpenter.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.  Jesse resided in Hamptonville since his young adult life where he met the love of his life, Lois Johnson Carpenter who preceded him in death in 2012.  Left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Vena C. Jester of Hamptonville, son, Danny Lee (Carolyn) Carpenter of Boonville; granddaughters, Pam Jester (Pete) Moncus of Hamptonville, Angela Jester (Daniel Hutchens) of Elkin; great grandchildren that he adored, Emily (Seth) Williams of Hamptonville, Dawson and Josie Shaffer of Elkin; great great grandchildren who lit up his world, Aylabelle Rebecca and Abigail Josephine Williams; and several nieces and nephews.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Asbury United Methodist Church.  The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at Asbury United Methodist Church by the Rev. Mark Reavill, the Rev. Ricky Johnson, and the Rev.
