Jesse Dayton Brown

EAST BEND - Mr. Jesse Dayton Brown, 80, of Tyra Road passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Friday, September 27, 2024 at his home. He was born March 13, 1944 in Forsyth County to the late Buford Ellis and Hattie Hobson Brown. Mr. Brown was a faithful member of Forbush Friends Meeting where he was always willing to served as needed. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 35 years of service. Dayton, as he was known to everyone, enjoyed farming and was able to retire and farm with his brother, sons, grandsons, and nephew for many years. He was a loving husband, devoted Dad, Papa, Uncle, and Neighbor to everyone. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanna Brown; brother, Hassel Brown, Sr.; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Wade Scott; and Niece, Susan (Russell) Wright. Surviving are his loving wife of over 59 years, Sandra Brown; sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene & Lawanda Brown, Jesse & Mandy Brown; Grandchildren, Dallas, Megan, Carter and Joshua; Nephews, Jason & Beth Scott, Hassel & Tammy Brown, Jr., Steve & Kelly Brown, Todd Payne, Terry Payne; nieces, Melinda & Jerry Hawks, Marci (Kenny) Hamlin, Marti (Chris) Berrier, Amanda (Erin) Vestal; brothers-in-law, Ray & Rhonda Vestal, Sammy & Sylvia Vestal; sister-in-law, Nora S. Brown; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM Sunday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend. His Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Monday at Forbush Friends Meeting by Rev. Mitchell See. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
