Jessie Dobson Smith

Smith Elkin – Jessie Shelby Faye Dobson Smith, 62, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at her home.  She was born April 24, 1955 in Surry County to the late James Roosevelt Dobson and Edith Mae Dobson.  Jessie will be remembered for her service for the Lord, her testimonies, and the love for her family.  Jessie was active in church, a choir director in the past, worked on the usher board and all during her illness.  The joy she got from watching her beautiful flowers grow.  She always had a smiling face and loving humor.  There is a void in our hearts, but God knows best.  Surviving are her husband of 32 years, Billy Sampson Smith; children, Shannon (Todd) Ryan, Dean Martin; grandchildren, Kenyon Martin, Alasha Martin, Adrian Martin, Karrigan Martin, Alyssa Martin, Zion Martin;  great grandchild, Kylen Martin; sisters, Lura Dobson, Wanda (Donald) Choate, Maria (William) Cockerham; brother, Larry (Mary) Dobson; and several nieces and nephews.  Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by Pastor Johnny Scott.  Burial will follow at Pleasant Union Baptist Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, prior to the service, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville, which is serving the Smith family.  Online condolences can be made at www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
