Jimmy Grant Presnell

Mr. Jimmy Grant Presnell, 60, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024 after a long courageous battle with liver cancer. Jimmy was born in Watauga County on February 10, 1964. 

Jimmy moved to Yadkinville in 1988 following the love of his life that he met in Boone. Living there, they built a life together for the next 36 years. Jimmy was proud to be a veteran serving in the Army National Guard and full time during Desert Storm. Jimmy’s passion was law enforcement and he worked in Forsyth, Stokes and most recently in Yadkin as a sheriff deputy. He also enjoyed his Kubota tractors and having the newest Chevy truck. Anyone that knew Jimmy knew that we would do anything for you and he never met a stranger. He touched so many people in his life in a positive way and will be missed beyond words can say. This was reflected in the many visitors that he had over his last days. 

Jimmy and Traci were married on September 9, 1989, and enjoyed working together on their many home projects. 

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Traci of the home; father, Grant Presnell of Boone; sister, Tami Presnell of Boone; great-nephew, Chase Presnell of Boone; uncles-in-law, Dale and David (Faye) Reynolds of Yadkinville and very special friend Ben Simpson. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Presnell; niece Amber Presnell; mother-in-law, Shirley Hutchens; father-in-law, Alvin Hutchens and special canine companion, Susie. 

The family wishes to thank Drs. Ray Morrow and Sean Rudnick for the care they provided during Jimmy’s illness, SECU Hospice of Yadkinville for the care given during Jimmy’s last days and Sheriff Nick Smitherman and the entire Yadkin County Sherriff’s Office for their support.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. There will be a Celebration of Life service on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 1 PM in the Gentry Family Chapel by Chaplain Jerry McFadyen will Full Military Honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346.
