Joan Marie Olsen Pinnix

Pinnix Joan Marie Olsen Pinnix, passed away peacefully at Vienna Village Assisted Living Facility in Pfafftown, NC on Thursday, April 05, 2018. She was born on December 22, 1930 to Bertha White Olsen and Harold Stern Olsen in Little Richmond, a community in Surry County, North Carolina. Joan graduated from Elkin High School and King’s Business School in Greensboro, NC. She worked for the Chatham Manufacturing Company in Elkin, NC and for over 20 years with the Federal Aviation Administration in Washington D. C. After her retirement from FAA, she worked for the Winston-Salem Fire Department and then for Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, NC. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Joel C. Pinnix; two sons: Joel S. Pinnix (Pattee Hurley) and John O. Pinnix (Carter); 4 grandchildren: Caroline Pinnix, Harry Pinnix, Charlie Pinnix and Jack Pinnix; and her half-sisters: Evelyn “La” McLeod and Helen McGroarty. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her step-father, S.C. Hudspeth; 5 step-brothers; and 3 step-sisters. A graveside service will be held at 1:00PM, Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery in Hamptonville, with Pastor Tim Tucker officiating. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends and lunch will be served in the church fellowship hall. The family wishes to express their many thanks to the staff of Vienna Village Assisted Living in Pfafftown, NC for the kindness and professional care given to Mrs. Pinnix and a special thanks to Hospice for making her end-of-life transition as comfortable and peaceful as possible. The family requests no flowers.
