Joel Reece Poindexter

Joel Reece Poindexter passed away unexpectedly on April 17, 2017.  Joel was born on September 29, 1968 to Joe and Becky Poindexter.  Growing up on the family farm, he spent much of his time learning from his grandfather and father.  He graduated from NC State University in 1988 with a degree in Crop Science and a desire to continue the legacy of generations of farmers in his family.  Joel loved farming and made it his lifelong profession.  He enjoyed taking neighborhood kids on rides with his farm equipment, and loved seeing the joy on their faces.  Joel was a member of Forbush Baptist Church and Forbush Volunteer Fire Department.  Joel was preceded in death by his father, Joe Poindexter; and grandparents, Bill & Hilda Poindexter and Jack Reece.  He married the love of his life, Tammy Vestal, on July 24, 2004 and they were blessed with two precious girls, Bailey Louise and Henley Lynn.  In addition to his wife and daughters, he is survived by his mother Becky Poindexter, his grandmother Frances Reece, brother Jason (Tina) Poindexter, sister Jinda (Avery) Haynes, four nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  His funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, April 21, 2017 at Forbush Baptist Church by Rev. Joe Souther and Rev. John Brown.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the KMD Building of Forbush Baptist Church on Friday, April 21, 2017.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Forbush High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) Program, 1525 Falcon Road, East Bend, NC 27018.  Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Poindexter Family.  Online condolences may be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
