Joey Alan Calloway

Mr. Joey Alan Calloway, 65, passed away, Friday, December 15, 2023. He was born July 31, 1958 in Surry to the late Leo and Erlene Macemore Calloway. In addition to his parents, Mr. Calloway was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Calloway; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Buddy Smith; brother, Scotty Calloway; father-in-law, Virgil Wagoner; brother-in-law, Braxton Couse. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Elaine Wagoner Calloway; his son, Dustin (Maggie) Calloway; grandchildren, Locksley Calloway, Helen Calloway; brother, Tony (Mary Lou) Calloway; mother-in-law, Joan Wagoner; sister-in-law, Debbie Calloway; sister-in-law’s, Gail (Jerry) Waddell, Betty Jo Crouse, Debbie (Randy) Porterfield, Cathy (Jeff) Putman, Lisa (David Casstevens; brother-in-law Tommy Wagoner; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Calloway was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church, where he loved singing and when his health permitted leading the music. In his younger years, Joey was an active member of Arlington Fire Department. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 1:30 PM in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials made to Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 211 Cedar Brook Rd., Jonesville, NC 28642.
