John Curtis Stewart

Stewart EAST BEND – Mr. John Curtis Stewart, 43, went to be with the Lord after fighting a long battle of sickness and pain. He was born December 28, 1979 in Forsyth County to Curtis R. Stewart and Roslyn “Rose” Dowell Stewart. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis R. Stewart in July of 2016. Surviving are his loving Mother, Rose Stewart, of the homeplace in East Bend; his sister, Amy Stewart Riggan of East Bend; a very loved nephew, James Curtis Riggan of Goldsboro; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. John worked 20 years at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, and recently with Stewart Hauling of Belews Creek as a heavy truck driver. He loved collecting classic model cars, going with friends to concerts, especially spending time with his nephew, James; and taking care of Nigel and Ellie his two English Bullie Dogs. John loved working with his Aunt Wilma, joking and kidding around with her, and also with his special Aunt Ann, whom he called an Angel. He had seen how she stepped in by his mothers’ side at their home to take care of his Dad when he was so sick at home. She was able to say her goodbyes to him the day he went home to be with the Lord. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend. His Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 12:00 PM Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023 in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. David Jarrell. Interment will follow in the Stoney Knoll United Methodist Church Cemetery.
