Mr. John Moses Hutchens, 89, passed away Saturday, November 6th, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Hutchens was born July 2, 1932 in Yadkin County to William Belk and Nellie Spillman Hutchens. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in Germany in the 2nd Armored Division in support of NATO during the Korean War. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on cars, and watching NASCAR. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hutchens was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Hutchens, and two brothers, William and Melvin Hutchens and survived by a sister, Hattie (George) Vestal and a brother Billy Gene. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shelby Booe Hutchens; a daughter, Carol Davis; a granddaughter, Sarah (Erik) Hargrave; a special niece, Deane (Matt) Dale; nieces, Teresa (Michael) Parks, Janice (Johnny) Hutchens, and Lisa Binz; a great niece, Jessica Garner; a great nephew, Matthew Dale; and a special cousin, Barbara Alice Hutchens. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 pm, Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Forbush Baptist Church by Rev. Justin Crouse with Full Military honors by the VFW Post 9010 Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday evening at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Forbush Baptist Church at 3917 Old US Hwy 421 E Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Forsyth Medical Center Neuro ICU for the loving care they gave Mr. Hutchens. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Hutchens family.
