John L Reavis

Boonville Mr. John L. Reavis, 89, passed away March 1, 2020 at his home. Mr. Reavis was born January 21, 1931 in Yadkin County to John Lonnie and Stella Mosteller Reavis. He was a member of Gospel View Baptist Church and enjoyed racing, making money selling cars, and selling ham and corn meal. Mr. Reavis retired from AT&T and later owned and operated Cranberry Store on Center Road for approximately 10 years. He was also, a security guard for 10 years at the Candle Corporation. In addition to his parents, Mr. Reavis was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Lee Poplin Reavis. He is survived by three children, Ricky (Elaine) Reavis, Jonathan (Gwen) Reavis, and Sharon (Don) Porter; grandchildren, Kara (Brian) Wooten, Nicole Hamby, Mary Lee Tilley, John (Tyler) Reavis, Bethany (Cameron) Absher, Sarah Reavis, Holly Reavis, Jason (Erin) Porter and Josh (Barbie) Porter; and great grandchildren, Jesse, Ellie, Ty, Kylee, Kadin, Caleb, Hannah, Lainie, Ethan, and Evan. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00PM, Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Gentry Family Chapel in Jonesville with Dr. Jerry Sizemore and Rev. Dale Cave officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 1:00 prior to the service at the funeral home. The family requests no flowers be sent but memorials be made to Mtn. Valley Hospice 243 N. Lee Ave. Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Mtn. Valley Hospice and especially Denise, Heather, Betty, and Katie for the loving care given to Mr. Reavis. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville is serving the Reavis family.
