John "Rickie" Reavis

Mr. John “Rickie” Reavis, 71, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Davie Rehab Center.  Mr. Reavis was born August 14, 1948 in Iredell County to JC and Cecile Johnson Reavis.  He was a member of South Oak Ridge Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division and served as Military Police.  Rickie enjoyed fishing and ballgames, but most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. 

Mr. Reavis is survived by his wife, Gay Gentle Reavis; two children, Tammy Reavis and Jason (Jennifer) Reavis; grandchildren, McKinley and Kylie Reavis; step grandchildren, Jared and Jenda Crouse; a sister, Shelby Reavis; two brothers, Mickie (Ann) Reavis and Dink (Aline) Reavis; mother-in-law, June Gentle; sister-in-law, Shelia (David) McMillan; and several nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00PM, Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at South Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Dr. Phil Beavers and Rev. Chris Hauser officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and NC National Guard Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 prior to the service at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Oak Ridge Baptist Church Youth Fund, 1336 Lone Hickory Rd, Yadkinville, NC 27055.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the nursing staff of Forsyth Medical Center for the loving care given to Mr. Reavis.
