John Walter Spicer, Jr.

Jonesville Mr. John Walter Spicer, Jr., 71, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.  Mr. Spicer was born September 1, 1947 in Surry County to John and Helen Hemric Spicer, Sr.  He enjoyed working in his yard and coaching baseball.  He worked as a car salesman for over 40 years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Spicer was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Kay Evans Spicer; a grandson, Dillon Vestal; a brother, Red Spicer; father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Betty Jean Evans.  He is survived by two children, Angie (Kenny) Shermer and John Dustin Spicer; a granddaughter, Brianna Vestal; a sister, Linda Barber; two brothers, James Spicer and Dean Spicer; a sister-in-law, Carol Jean Vestal; two brothers-in-law, Garry Evans and David Evans; special nieces, Brandy Barber and Amy Johnson; special friend and business partner, Don Porter; and special friend, Dale Rose.  A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Gentry Family Chapel in Jonesville.  Burial will follow at Sunrise Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday evening at the funeral home. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville is serving the Spicer family.
