Johnny Leon Dickerson

Mr. Johnny Leon Dickerson, 79, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017. He was born in Yadkin County on July 7, 1938 to the late Alfonzo and Bertie Bell Dickerson. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Alfonzo Dickerson Jr., Max Dickerson; sister Gladys Dinkins. Mr. Dickerson is survived by his wife Carolyn Dickerson; daughters Kim (Vann) Harrell, Gina Dickerson; grandchildren Jon (Annawyn) Harrell, and Katelyn Harrell. He was a member of West Yadkin Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon. Johnny was a loving husband, father and papaw.  He enjoyed playing golf, gardening, as well as traveling with friends.   He was an avid reader, loved history, and enjoyed photography, especially documenting his family through the years.  The family would like to thank the staff of Yadkin Nursing Care Center for the excellent care they provided to Mr. Dickerson. His funeral service will be held at West Yadkin Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Richard Odom and Rev. Kenny Gooden officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service, in the West Yadkin Baptist Church fellowship hall.
