John “Johnny” Franklin Eldridge, Sr., passed away on Tuesday February 2, 2021 at Pruitt Health Care in Elkin. He was born in Surry County on December 20, 1938; Son of the late Haston Eldridge, and Mongielee Wiles Eldridge Durham. He was preceded in death, by His wife; Louise Coram Eldridge, 2 sisters; Tina Harn and Mary Lee Vogler. John loved his family and friends. He enjoyed get-togethers at his daughter’s house eating her famous appetizers and his favorite chicken stew cooked by his son-in-law. He loved spending time with his son and daughter-in-law at Lake Norman. He enjoyed going out to listen to music and was an excellent dancer. He spent a lot of time playing golf, bowling in leagues with his wife and watching the Forbush High School Softball team. John loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all of his heart. Survivors include his loving 2 children John Eldridge, Jr. (Lisa) and Tammy Miller (Reno), Grandchildren; Jacob Allen (Brittany), Morgan Haynes (Cody), Cody Miller (Morgan), Jake Miller, Luke Miller. Great grandchildren; Lawsyn, Caden, Parker, Tucker, and Tatum, and a sister; Carolyn Hooker (Don) and a brother- in -law; Charles Vogler. A private celebration of life service will be held on Friday with Pastor Austin Caviness officiating. Mr. Eldridge will lie in state on Thursday February 4, 2021 from 8:00 to 4:00 pm and on Friday from 8:00 till 12;30 pm. at Gentry Family Funeral Service of East Bend.
