Turner HAMPTONVILLE- Mr. Joseph Lee Turner, 77, of Cranfill Road passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023. He was born December 24, 1945 in Yadkin County to the late Marvin C. and Martie Swaim Turner. Mr. Turner loved riding his tractor, mowing his yard, eating with family and especially eating breakfast at Boonville Restaurant with his friends. He worked most of his life as a tobacco farmer and ran 2 chicken houses. He also owned and operated his own logging company, worked with Jarvis Renegar Mowing of the right-of-ways across North Carolina, and worked several years with Lydall, Inc. of Hamptonville. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Ethel Melinda Renegar Turner of the home; his daughter, Sara Turner (Tim) Spann; 2 grandchildren, Amber (Martin) Harris, Whitney N. Spann; 3 great-grandchildren, David Griffin, Hunter Lane, Kingston Harris; step-son, Howard Wayne Collins, Jr.; 2 brothers, Cecil Tuner, Calvin Turner; his deceased brother, the late Edwin Turner and his wife, Wanda; 3 sisters, Grace (Harold) Steelman; Gail Walker; Angie Gunter; several nieces and nephews; his deceased little dog “Little Bit” and his current canine companion, Daisy Mae. Mr. Turner was well loved by many he enjoyed his grandsons coming over to see him, and a special niece, Jeanette Turner who would always shave him, cut his hair, and clip his nails. The family will be available for friends and family to provide food and fellowship at the home of his daughter, Sara Spann, 1032 Big Valley Drive, Hamptonville, NC. The family will also receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A private service will be held at a later date.
