Joy Reddick

Mrs. Brenda “Joy” Sutphin Reddick, 83, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024. She was born June 1, 1941 in Yadkin County to the late Hugh Glenn Sutphin and Edith Mae Pardue Sutphin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marlene Pfaff. Mrs. Reddick was a member of Richmond Hill Baptist Church for many years where she served in the Bags of Love ministry and the Purple Hat Ladies. Joy has been an active member of Collide Church for 10 years where she served as a greeter and she loved hosting a community group in her home. She loved gardening, cooking, quilting and she was always welcoming and hospitable to everyone she met. Joy was known as “Nana” to everyone, and to know her, was to be loved by her. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Gurney Reece Reddick; her daughters, Susan (Tim) Doub, Melissa (Jack) Grimes; grandchildren, Joshua (Tara) Doub, Caleb (Jennifer) Doub, Megan (Dylan) Tranter, Elijah (Nikki) Doub, Hope Grimes; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Flint, Hudson, Emmett; sister, Judy Harrell. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Richmond Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Nick Poindexter and Rev. Luke Money officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to thank Mtn. Valley Hospice, Nurse “Sonia” for the loving care shown to Joy and her family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 243 N. Lee Ave., Yadkinville, NC 27055.
