Winston Salem Ms. Juanita Ann Vestal Otero, 67, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Juanita was born April 24, 1953 in Surry County to Spencer Carl Vestal and Mary Magdeline Hutchens Jester. She worked at Hugh Chatham Hospital for 17 years. Juanita enjoyed reading and being a part of community theatre. She spent her life singing and playing the guitar, bringing much needed joy to so many people. Juanita sang for children at Brenner’s, Relay for Life fundraisers, and residents of nursing homes. Her smile and joyous personality would light up a room and she was a huge blessing to all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Hardy; and three brothers, Gene Hodges, Randy Jester, and J.W. Jester. She is survived by three children, Jamie Hall Hyland and husband Michael, Kristy Hall Holbrook, and Lucas Carl Otero; grandchildren, Karson & Jensen Chapman, Brennon Holbrook, and Marc Gonzales; brothers, Doug Hodges and Darrell Jester; sisters, Karen (Randy) Hutchens, Diane (Wayne) Underwood, and Avonell Hobson; a sister-in-law, Bell Hodges; a special nephew, Landon Hardy; and many special cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Arlington First Baptist Church cemetery. You may come by and pay your respects to Juanita from 8:00AM to 1:00PM on Saturday, March 13th at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving Juanita’s family.
