Katie Mitchell Wilkins

JONESVILLE Mrs. Katie Belle Mitchell Wilkins, 88, of Jonesville, NC went to her heavenly home on June 4, 2019. She passed away at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, NC. Mrs. Wilkins was born on January 2, 1931 in Iredell County to the late Jerry and Annie Hepler Mitchell. She was married to the late Thomas H. Wilkins on November 30, 1948. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers James Mitchell of Kernersville and Seth Mitchell of Hamptonville; four sisters Lula Crater of Hamptonville, Hazel Helton of Hamptonville, Emma Lou Benton of Jonesville, and Eva Isaacs of Sunnyvale, CA. Mrs. Wilkins is survived by her daughter Sylvia Chapman and husband Rusty of Statesville, granddaughter Holly Whitesides and husband Barry of Statesville, brother Jerry (Jo Ella) Mitchell of Mooresville, sisters Barbara Morgan of Rising Sun, MD, and Annie King of Yadkinville and many nieces and nephews. She loved jigsaw puzzles, reading, gardening, and all her flowers. She attended Bible Baptist Church in Jonesville. Visitation will be at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 7pm to 9pm. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Dwayne Lankford and Rev. Ralph Lepley officiating. Lying in state will be from 1:30pm to 2pm. Interment will follow at Fall Creek Baptist Church in Jonesville. Pallbearers will be Richard Shaw, Dennis Bryant, Chris King, Dean Mitchell, Ricky Mitchell, and Stephen Mitchell. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Gordon Hospice House at 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 and Bible Baptist Church at 5933 US 21, Jonesville, NC 28642.       The family would like to thank the staffs of Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, and Chatham Nursing and Rehab Center in Elkin.
