Kenneth Gerald Cheek

Jonesville Mr. Kenneth Gerald Cheek, 91, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Kindred Hospital. Mr. Cheek was born September 9, 1927 in Yadkin County to Samuel and Novella Nicks Cheek. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cheek was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Haynes Cheek; a son, Jeffery Cheek; and three brothers, Harold, Granville, and Jack Cheek. He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Lynn) Somers and Wendy Cheek; four grandchildren, Todd Somers, Heather (Michael) Tilley, Amber (Jason) Brown, and Shanda (Brian) Kaplan; seven great grandchildren, Zachary & Elijah Tilley, Logan & Katie Brown, McKenzee Somers, and Mackenzie & Taylor Kaplan; a sister, Wilda Coleman; and four brothers, Ray Cheek, Allen Cheek, Philip (Mary Lou) Cheek, and Douglas (Wendy) Cheek. A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00PM, Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Gentry Family Chapel with Rev. Joe Souther officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00PM, prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 8087 Windsor Rd, Hamptonville, NC 27020.
