Jonesville Mr. Larry Ray Cook, 72, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at SECU Hospice Home of Yadkin. Mr. Cook was born May 24, 1946 in Yadkin County to Gurney and Demie Holcomb Cook. He was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Cook enjoyed camping, fishing, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cook was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty McBride and Sudie Draughn; one brother, J.A. Cook; and three brothers-in-law, Dr. Keith Oliver, Parks McBride, and David Draughn. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Genell Oliver Cook; two daughters, Lori (Donnie) Vanhoy and Amy (Michael) Vestal; four grandchildren, Heather Henderson, Tanner (Rae) Vestal, Jacob Henderson, and Rachel Vestal (IV Simons); three great grandchildren, Kaedon, Athiena, and Ava Henderson; two brothers, Bobby Cook and Clay Cook; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Oliver, JoAnn (Danny) Hutchens, Yvonne Oliver, and Betty Cook; a great aunt, Ruth Hayes; his special K-9 companion, Buffy; special friends, Tommie Nicholas and Jack Reeves; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00PM, Sunday August 5, 2018 at Fall Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Don Hudson and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00PM prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fall Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 3320 Fall Creek Church Rd, Jonesville, NC 28642. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of WFBMC Cancer Center and SECU Hospice Home of Yadkin for the loving care given to Mr. Cook.
