Larry George Shore

Hamptonville – Larry George Shore, 80, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023.  He was born July 28, 1943 in Yadkin County to the late George and Mary Renegar Shore.  Larry owned and operated the Carpet Hut for 39 years, and worked full-time at RJ Reynolds for 32 years.  In 1994, he received a certificate from the Greensboro Police Department, Certificate of Appreciation for his leadership in the Beautification Project at the District IV Substation.  In 1996 Larry received the WXII Certificate of Recognition for Extraordinary Public Service.  In 2003 he received a Certificate of Appreciation from Feed the Children for his gifts that helped provide 1,400 meals in the previous year for hungry boys and girls.  Larry was a member at Mountain View Baptist Church and he drove the van for different church functions.  Survived by his wife, Babs Wood; son, Greg (Melissa) Shore; step-daughters, Katie Wood, Anna Wood; grandson, Sidney Shore; step-grandson, Tyler (Madison) Wood; sister, Shirley Wiles; brother, Donald Shore (special friend Judy).  His funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Mountain View Baptist Church by the Rev. Anthony Silvers and the Rev.
