CLEMMONS - Laura Harrison, a devoted mother, compassionate burn unit nurse, and avid cat lover, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024. Her unwavering dedication to her family, her patients, and her furry companions leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service that will forever be cherished.
Born on May 13th, 1959, Laura was the beloved daughter of Max and Barbara Cardell. Growing up in a close-knit family alongside her siblings, Mark Cardell of Cherry Grove, SC, David Cardell of Gastonia, NC, and Kathryn Cardell of Gastonia, NC, Laura learned the values of love, compassion, and resilience that would shape her life's journey.
Laura's passion for nursing led her to pursue a career in the burn unit, where she served tirelessly for 43 years. Her compassionate care and unwavering dedication touched the lives of countless patients and their families. Laura's gentle touch and comforting presence provided solace and hope during some of life's most challenging moments. Her colleagues admired her professionalism, her empathy, and her unwavering commitment to healing.
Beyond her professional achievements, Laura's greatest joy came from being a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren, her son Alexander who had Adalynne and Isaac and her daughter Kelly who had Zachary and Caius. She poured her heart and soul into nurturing them, instilling in them the values of kindness, integrity, and perseverance. Laura's love knew no bounds, and her children were blessed to have her as their guiding light.
Laura's compassion extended beyond her human family; she was also a devoted cat lover, sharing her home and heart with her beloved feline companions. Her kindness and affection for animals brought joy and comfort to both her and her furry friends.
Laura was a cherished friend, confidante, and mentor to many. Her warm smile, compassionate heart, and infectious laughter brightened the lives of all who knew her. Laura's legacy of love and service will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.
A memorial service will be held on May 11th, 2024 at 1:00pm at Gentry Family Funeral Service (5108 HWY 601 N. Yadkinville). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any animal charity group, in honor of Laura's compassionate spirit and her dedication to helping others either human or animal.
Although Laura may have bid farewell to this earthly realm, her spirit will live on eternally in the hearts of those who loved her. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory be a source of comfort and strength to all who mourn her loss.
Forever remembered, forever cherished, Laura Harrison will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
