Laverne Prim Matthews

Laverne Prim Matthews, 93, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2020 at Yadkin Nursing Center. She was born in Yadkin County on August 5, 1926 daughter of the late Roy J. Prim and Ila Vestal Prim. Laverne was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Venson Matthews, a brother, Hal Monroe Prim. Surviving are her two daughters; Rosalie Lynch (Bobby) and Nancy Geisel (Edward), grandchildren; April Mendenhall (Darian), Jody Lynch (Tracia), Melissa Hill (Aaron), Landon Lynch (Angie) and Tiffany Kidd (Matthew), Great grandchildren; Austin and Laci Mendenhall, Kaylen Fields, Olivia Lynch, Kayden Taylor, Isaiah and Elijah Hill, and her sister; Melba Prim Hutchens  A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prospect United Methodist Church cemetery fund, 3541 Smithtown Rd, East Bend, NC 27018. The family would like to thank Dr. James McGrath and the staff of Yadkin Nursing center for all their wonderful care Mrs. Matthews received.
