Jonesville Mr. Lavorn “Gene” Eugene Pardue, 86, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Pardue was born May 13, 1936, in Yadkin County to Gathis and Sadie Vestal Pardue. He was a member of Swaim’s Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years at Arlington First Baptist Church. Mr. Pardue was a veteran of the US Army National Guard, served as mayor of both Jonesville and Arlington for many years, and was a member of the Elkin Masonic Lodge. He was the owner and operator of Welparnel Construction and loved to build things and watch Westerns. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pardue was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Paul Cave; and a sister, Linda Lewis. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Shelby Swaim Pardue; children, Amy Pardue Cave and husband Roy and Jill Pardue Thompson and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Adam (Laura Faye) Cave, Alan (Ashley M.) Cave, Ashley I. Cave, Chase (Tori) Thompson, Olivia (Kyle) Smith, Jacob Thompson (Makayla Witten); great-grandchildren, Aaron, Janiya, Lily, John Luke, Lillygrace, Jamissynn, & Silas Cave, Korbin Smith, and Tinley Thompson; granddaughter-in-law, Jamie Tatum; sisters, Rosa Harris and Sarah (Sam) Benton; brother, Jerry (Dorothy) Pardue; and several special nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Swaim’s Baptist Church with Rev. Gordon Macemore and Rev. Jerry Pardue officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Swaim’s Baptist Church, 3919 Swaim’s Church Rd Hamptonville, NC 27020. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Shonnie Williams, Donna Matthews, Tamara Wilson, Samantha Martin, Rachel Fernandez, Terri Williams, and the staff of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for the loving care given to Mr. Pardue.
