Lucy Byrd Shaffner

Lucy Byrd Shaffner, age 87, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021. She was born March 27, 1933 in Wilkes County to the late Charlie and Elmina Sebastian Byrd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Shaffner; one brother, and four sisters; son-in-law, Buddy Faries. She is survived by her children, David (Rosalene) Shaffner, Linda Shaffner Faries, Debra Shaffner Cranford; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Shaffner was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Greensboro, where she was very active while her health permitted. Lucy enjoyed making crafts, and she loved working in her flowers and gardening. Mrs. Shaffner will be available for public viewing on Tuesday, from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM at the funeral home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Oak Level Baptist Church, 5887 Austin Little Mtn. Rd., Roaring River, NC, 28669, with Rev. Tony Thomas officiating, burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Shaffner will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service.
