Luther Gordon Welborn

Luther Gordon Welborn Jr passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020. He was born in Surry County on October 26, 1962, son of the late L.G. Welborn Sr. and Barbara Nelson Welborn. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his father in law; Albert Hutchens. Gordon had a very strong Christian faith. He loved God, hunting, fishing and all sports. Gordon especially loved spending time with his family. Gordon was kind, compassionate, caring, full of humor and overflowing with love. He was a friend to all - to know him, was to love him. He was our undefeatable hero. He will be missed by many. Survivors include his loving wife; Beth Welborn, two daughters; Jordan “JoJo” Welborn and Allie Welborn, special fur baby Lily. Sisters; Terri (Ricky) Walker and Shannon Welborn, Sister in laws; Julie (Tom) Burrow and Tara (Brian) Houston, Nieces; Kristi Walker, Gabby Caudill and Hannah Houston, Nephews; Travis Walker, Randy (Tracie) Walker and Brandon Burrow, Great nephews; Cole Terry, Dylan Terry, Braylen Walker, Brinn Walker, Preston (Mara) Walker and Landon Walker, Great niece Brittany (Bryan) Dobbins and Mother in law Pat Hutchens. He worked at Unfi for many years until he became disabled. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 2 :00 PM at Gentry Family Chapel with Rev. Kenny Pardue and Rev. Joey Moore officiating. Gordon can be viewed on Saturday, December 26 from 8:00 to 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to State Employees' Credit Union, 233 N.
