Mrs. Malgorzata Marlena Mathews, 55, passed away Saturday September 4, 2021, 10:20am at Hugh Chatham Hospital with her husband by her side. Marlena was born March 15, 1966 in Warsaw Poland to the late Henryk Klach and her mother Krystyna Marinna Pelka Klach of Warsaw, Poland. She graduated from college in Warsaw, Poland. Charles and Marlena met in 1994 in Warsaw, Poland, and she moved to the USA with him in 1995 where they were married in June of 1996. Marlena was the love of Charles’ life and his best friend. She is survived by her mother Krystyna Klach, her loving husband of 25 years Charles F. Mathews, her brother Albert Klach and sister in-law Ania Klach. Stepson Steven Mathews and wife Terri Mathews, Stepson Kaleb Mathews and wife Allison Mathews, Two granddaughters; Elizabeth A. Mathews, Nina L. Mathews and William S. Pratt, an uncle. With additional family members and friends located in Poland, Germany and Canada; A gathering of friends will be conducted September 14th, 2021 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville, NC. Marlena was a supporter of NCSCV (Sons of Confederate Veterans) Marlena was immensely talented. She was a superb sewer and embroiderer, she was a phenomenal cook and was always so generous toward her loved ones. She loved and supported her family in all things that they did. She traveled the world and knew many languages. She was part of a little group with her friends called the Flamingo Girls and they always hung out together. She loved animals and dedicated many hours to rescuing pets. She was loved and admired by all of her family and will be missed greatly.
