Margaret Elder Wilkins

Mrs. Margaret Elder Wilkins, 94, passed away at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital on March 5, 2021. Margaret was born January 21, 1927 in Brookneal, Virginia to the late Everett and Mabel Elder. She was an excellent student, becoming Valedictorian of her class. Margaret will always be remembered for her infectious smile and loving heart; never failing to tell those close to her how much she loved them. Most of all, she will be remembered for her overwhelming generosity; which included her favorite hobby, spoiling her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Claude G. Wilkins; daughter, Brenda W. Oliver; grandson, Brian Guyer; two brothers; two sisters; and several nephews. Surviving are her daughter; Bonnie (Danny) Guyer; one granddaughter, Julie (Mark) Morgan; two grandsons Allen “Marty” Oliver and Brad (Crystal) Guyer; two step-granddaughters, Mary Sale and Ann Marie Moxley; six great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; son-in-law Roger (Jane) Oliver; two sisters, Shirley Hunter and Pat (Buddy) Horton; and several nieces and nephews. Public viewing for Mrs. Wilkins will be on Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 12:00 – 1:45 PM at Fall Creek Baptist Church. Her funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM following the public viewing at Fall Creek Baptist Church in Jonesville by Rev. Don Hudson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests that all in attendance wear a mask and practice social distancing. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
