Margie Jane Freeman Cockerham

Jonesville Margie Jane Freeman Cockerham, 100, of Jonesville, passed away peacefully at her home, Tuesday, August 22, 2023. She was born in Surry County on August 1, 1923 to Vance Washington and Rosa Bell Jones Freeman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hardin Cockerham, five brothers and three sisters. She was the oldest member of Fall Creek Baptist Church. Margie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and special sister. Surviving are one daughter Catherine C. Transou; a granddaughter, Jane (James) Hollingsworth; two great grandchildren, Chris Hollingsworth and Jon Hollingsworth; and a sister, Nettie Frances (Clayton) Childress. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Gentry Funeral Chapel in Jonesville with Rev. Don Hudson officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2PM Thursday one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Fall Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
