Marian Edith Poindexter Miller, 89, of East Bend, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Yadkin County on January 4, 1929 to Jesse Lee and Hester Scott Poindexter. Mrs. Miller was a faithful member of Union Hill United Methodist Church for many years until the church closed, and then she became a member of East Bend United Methodist Church. She was known in the community as an expert baker, and she won blue ribbons for her cakes at the Dixie Classic Fair. She enjoyed sharing them with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she always loved to spend time with. Mrs. Miller had a forty year career at Hanes in Winston-Salem, from which she retired in 1993. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Floyd Miller; son Willie Miller; sister Judy Long; two brothers J.L. Poindexter and Scottie Poindexter. Surviving is one son Greg (Karen) Miller of East Bend; one God-son Anthony Westmoreland of Damascus, VA; three grandchildren Shawn (Wendy) Miller of Dillion, SC, Nicole Rodriguez (fiancé’ Matt Pardue) of East Bend, and Lance Miller; five great-grandchildren Finn Miller, Henry Miller, Ryley Rodriguez, Elam Pardue, and Sadie Pardue; two special nieces Debbie (Billy D.) Prim of Winston Salem and Veronica Filipowski of Winston Salem; and several other nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 2, 2018 in the Gentry Family Chapel at 1:30 PM, with Rev. Will Hamric officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
