Marie Simmons Chatman

Marie Simmons Chatman, 80, passed away Monday September 1, 2022 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born March 7, 1942 in Yadkin County to the late Arthur James Simmons and Ethel Mary Ray Simmons. Mrs. Chatman loved genealogy, reading, cooking, and the Atlanta Braves. She was a History Major. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Ruth Burgess; brothers Ray Simmons, Weaver Simmons, Grant Simmons. Surviving are her husband of 58 years Grady Franklin Chatman, Jr.; son Grady Franklin Chatman III; daughter Tina (Adrian) Stevenson; grandchildren Timothy (Ashley) Jarvis, Daniel (Taylor) Jarvis, Sarah Romano, Nicholas Romano, Matthew Romano; four great grandchildren; brother Arthur Wayne (Sally) Simmons. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 AM Monday September 5, 2022 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral will be conducted 11:00 Monday September 5, 2022 in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Stephen Evans. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church in Yadkinville.
