Ruby Marie Brown James, 92, was born to Dollie and Jake Brown on August 9th, 1928, in Yadkin County. She is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters-in-law, Peggy Brown and Dr. Hazel N. Brown. Marie is survived by her two brothers, Leonard, and Conrad (Martha) Brown; son, William James III (Nancy and Kayla); granddaughters, Michelle (Rett) Fisher and Donna Marie James, whom she loved to no end; as well as special nieces and nephews, Mona Brown Ketner, Nadja Brown Ramsey, and Dr. Charles Brown, whom she helped raise and loved as her own children, David (Martha) Brown, and Foy (Traci) Brown, and Conrad (Sara) Brown. Incredibly special cousins, Judy (Robert) Justice, and Karen (Jim) Tauber. Her former daughter in law and husband, very near and dear to her, Trish and Eric Badgett, who lovingly was a great source of support anytime she needed it. Along with a host of great nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marie was an avid golfer in her younger years, and even accomplished getting that coveted hole-in-one. In life, Marie loved spending her time watching the Atlanta Braves play, even when they lost, was an activity member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and when health allowed, gathering with friends to play Rook. The family would like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice for the wonderful care given in the last months of her life. A huge thanks to Dr. Bill Johnson, her minister at First Baptist Church of Yadkinville, whom was a great source of conversation about life and a comfort, and to her friends and neighbors throughout the community that lovingly brought meals, provided help around the house, and gave freely of their time and love. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Yadkinville, or the charity of your choosing. A public service for Marie will be planned at a later date. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the James family.
