Martha Elizabeth Anderson, 93, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born August 5, 1931 to the late Robert Lee and Annie Kirkman Davis. Mrs. Anderson worked several years as a seamstress for Lucia Garments of Elkin. She was a faithful, dedicated, and the oldest member of Beulahland Church where she was lovingly known as the “Church Mother” and “Granny” to all. Mrs. Anderson was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to her family. She loved to spend time with each of them and especially enjoyed cooking, baking, and making her famous fried apple pies for them all to enjoy. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, L.D. Anderson, her siblings, William, Murriel, Ethel, and Beatrice; and by her son, Harvey Bates. Surviving are her children, Gray Bates, Teresa “Libby” (Jeff) Sheppard, Steve Anderson, Garry (Lisa) Anderson, Crystal “Lynn” Poplin; her grandchildren, Michelle (Tommy) Long, Crystal (Randall) Williams, Wendy (Jason) McClamrock, Daniel Bates, Kim (Jason) Deal, Matthew (Jodi) Anderson, Hannah (Joseph) Davis, Brady (Tiffany) Anderson, Jonathan Poplin, Elizabeth (Levi) Byrd; several great-grandchildren, Anthony, Tyler, Laken (Dakotah), Devin, Courtney (Braxton), Cori (Cody), Jared, Lukas, Bella D., Luke, Madison, Mykel, Ayden, Emerson, Bella P., Sybil, and Declan; and five great-great-grandchildren, Zoey, Grayson, Kynsley, Salem, and Liam. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday, October 18, 2024 at Beulahland Church in Jonesville. Her funeral service will be 12:00 PM Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Beulahland Church by Rev. Garry Anderson, Rev. Levi Byrd, and Rev. Joseph Davis. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Woltz Hospice Home for their loving care, and to Dr. Waite and his wife, Kelly, for their continued care for her over several years.
