Martha Clanton Bell

Martha Clanton Bell, 78, passed away peacefully at Novant Forsyth Medical Center on Sunday, 24, 2019. She was born in Wilkes County, NC on April 28, 1940; daughter of the late Charlie Raymond Clanton and Dorothy Laws Clanton, and was a longtime member of Flat Rock Baptist Church and was a devoted and loving grandmother to her loving grandchildren. Mrs. Bell retired from Yadkin Valley Telephone Company and Centel Telephone company after many years of service. Survivors include her husband, Hugh Miller Bell; son, Darren Hugh Bell (Karen); grandchildren, Brandon Hugh Bell, Joshua Darren Bell, Kallie Nicole Bell and step-granddaughter, Kayla Glennette White; sister in laws, Judy Clanton and Margaret Bryant (Charles G.); brother in law, Luther Bell (Jeanette) and Sam Handy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Clanton; two sisters, Audrey Munday and Gail Handy. A celebration of life service will be conducted on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Gentry Funeral Chapel with Dr. Joey Tomlin officiating. Burial will follow in Flat Rock Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
