Jonesville- Mr. Marvin Donald "Donnie" Cook, Sr., 74 of Jonesville left to reside with Jesus Saturday morning, August 28, 2021 so that he could reside with God Sunday morning August 29. He was born July 29, 1947 in Surry County to the late Marvin Junior Cook and Ruth Laster Cook. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Keith Cook and a daughter, Melissa Rachelle Key. Donnie loved his family and friends deeply, and was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved horses in his younger years and was an avid fisherman. He was retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company and worked as a carpenter for several years. He was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church, where he loved his church, Sunday school class, and enjoyed going on various mission trips to Alaska, Haiti, West Virginia, and other places. Surviving are his beloved wife of 49 years, Brenda Sutphin Cook; sons, Marvin Donald “D.J.” Cook, Jr and wife, Tonya; Joseph Dale Cook and wife, Wendy; daughter Jessica Mae Cook; Grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth; Wesley Cook and wife Lynae; Denver Caleb Cook, Marvin Jacob Cook, Taylor Marie Williams, Paisley Dawn Adkins, Trent Augustus Cook, Travis Dale Cook, Elizabeth Rebecca Cook; a great-granddaughter, Raelyn Hope Cook; his much loved sisters, Cookie Baynes, Sharon Ruth, sister-in-law, Libby Cook; mother-in-law, Lottie Sutphin; several beloved nieces, nephews, and close family and friends, too numerous to list. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 PM Tuesday at Union Baptist Church. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 PM Tuesday at Union Baptist Church by Rev. Kenny Pardue and Rev. Jim Holbrook. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full Military Honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Union Baptist Church or to Samaritans Purse.
