Mary Frances Cornelius Davis Steelman

East Bend – Mary Frances Cornelius Davis Steelman, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 25, 2024.  She was born January 4, 1932 in Yadkin County to the late Clyde Herman Cornelius and Eva Gough Cornelius.  Mary was a lifetime member of Prospect United Methodist Church and previously attended Sandy Springs Baptist Church. She loved her church and church family. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching her grandkids play sports. She was also a good basketball player and after high school graduation was hired by Hanes Hosiery to play basketball for them. She was also active in her community and had many wonderful friends at the East Bend Senior Center. She always enjoyed attending the parade in East Bend celebrating July 4^th.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Arzy Day Davis and W.B. Steelman, Jr.; son, Randall “Randy” Dean Davis; brother, Thomas Joshua Cornelius.  Surviving are her children, Lynn Davis (Dexter) Crater, Kevin Lee (Pam Barber) Davis); daughter-in-law, Kristen “Kristy” Smith Davis; grandchildren, Derick Scott (Kim Whitley) Crater, Ryan Mitchell (Sara Gilliam) Crater, Samantha Lauren Davis, Patrick Arzy (Kristin Apple) Davis, Sawyer Joshua Davis, Denver Smith Davis; great-grandchildren, Davis Gray Crater, Whitley Crater (Seth) Johnson, Colby Joyce Crater, Kinston Dexter Crater, Collin James Crater, Lillian Evangelia Grey Goulas, Grace Marie Davis; great-great grandchild, Everett Gray Johnson; sister, Blanch Marie “Reedy” Wishon; special friends, Barbara and Archie Matthews; and several nieces and nephews.  The family will receive friends Saturday April 27, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Prospect United Methodist Church by the Rev. Stuart Jones, the Rev. Laura-Lee Jones, and the Rev. David Kiser. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family would like to thank Dr. Joanie Williams of Yadkin Medical Associates and Mountain Valley Hospice of Yadkinville for their excellent care and compassion.
