Mary Childress Hawks

Hawks Yadkinville – Mary Childress Hawks, 85, passed to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. She was born February 22, 1933 in Surry County to the late Willie Monroe Childress and Maude Jester Childress.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Junior Hawks; sisters, Velma Hutchens, Laura Allgood; brother, Melvin Childress.  Surviving are her children, Ann (Bobby) Jones, Jack (Roxanne) Hawks, Katie (Ronald) Moore, Joyce (Craig) Marler, Wayne (Annette) Hawks, Keith (Lisa) Hawks; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Childress; sister-in-law, Dorothy Childress.  Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Turners Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Scott Welch, and the Rev. Billy Seats.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends two hours before the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church.  The family would like to thank Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, Sarah Richards, Texie Blackburn, and Becky Brawley for all the love and care shown to Mary.  Memorials can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC  28625.
