Mary Jo Reynolds Minton

August 1, 1943 — February 27, 2022

Yadkinville - Mrs. Mary Jo Reynolds Minton, 78, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 27, 2022. She was born in Yadkin County to the late Rose Etta Hutchens Vestal and Joe Reynolds. She fought a brave battle against Covid pneumonia and was able to spend her remaining days surrounded by her loving family while at the SECU Mountain Valley Hospice home in her hometown of Yadkinville, NC. She loved to be outdoors from a young age, feeling the wind in her hair racing along in her first hot rod or later leisurely riding the Blue Ridge Parkway with her husband in search of a scenic hiking spot and perhaps a special rock to add to her flower beds. Mary Jo’s joy was being with her family, gardening, canning and cooking to show her love. The neighborhood animals were also included, from bones for the dog next door, nuts for a squirrel named Elvis, and lots of seed for all the beautiful birds. From song birds to sheet music, a melody was often with her and she loved to play her organ and especially the piano to share a favorite hymn. During the many years serving to clean the church, one could often find her offering sweet praise playing a song or two before finishing their work. Now she’s enjoying the sweet sounds of heaven. She is mourned by her sister, Vivian ‘Bibbi’ Livengood; three children, Shane Reynolds (Kelly), Sharron Ring (Alton), and Shannon Reynolds (Lisa Brown); granddaughters Talesha Reynolds Mullis (Stevie) and Shaelynn Reynolds; and great grandsons Grayson Shane and Garrett Joseph Mullis; and special friends, Chelsea Brown and Hannah Brown. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim in 2016. Her funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Northwood Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Webb and the Rev. Allen Barker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 PM Thursday at Northwood Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SECU Mountain Valley Hospice, 243 N. Lee Avenue, Yadkinville, NC 27055 or to Northwood Baptist Church, 1309 Northwood Church Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
