Mary Lacey Renegar Hutchens

Mary Lacey Renegar Hutchens (Nanny), 89, passed away at her home on Thursday November 12, 2020. She was born on April 23, 1931 to the George Franklin and Ruby Caroline Renegar. She was one of nine children raised in the Courtney area of Yadkin County, NC. She was a member of South Oak Ridge Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, working, cooking, and raising ten children of her own; she cared for many community and extended children who loved to gather at her home to play games like rook and horseshoes and to eat Nanny’s homemade food. She loved her family and friends enjoying their company until she left this earth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Hutchens, a son Richard “Doodie” Hutchens, a grandson, Ryan Hutchens, a sister, Ruth Hanes, and brothers Frank, Lonnie, Doc, GH, Joe, and Roy Renegar. Surviving are her children Karen Hutchens, Ray Hutchens, Roger (Ann) Hutchens, Randy (Karen) Hutchens, Ricky (Cheryl) Hutchens, Greg (Robin) Hutchens, Sherry Turner, Vickie (Jimmy) Warden, and Angie (Jay) Brendle; one brother Flay Renegar; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. On Saturday November 14, 2020 from 1:00PM – 4:30PM and on Sunday November 15, 2020 from 8:00AM – 11:00 AM people can come by to pay their condolences to Mrs. Hutchens. Her funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday November 15, 2020 at South Oak Ridge Baptist Church by Dr. Phil Beavers, Rev. Randy Quate, and Rev. Jared Warden. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials made in her honor to Trellis Supportive Care of Davie 377 Hospital Street suite 103 Mocksville, NC 27028 or South Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 1336 Lone Hickory Rd. Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family wishes to thank Trellis staff especially Destiny, Pat Greene, Melissa, and Dr. Shore for the care and love shown to her and her family during her sickness.
