Mrs. Mary Margaret Swaim Turner, age 97, went home to be with the Lord on September 14, 2022. Mary was born in Yadkin County on October 9, 1924 to the late Oscar Eli and Lona Mae Weatherman Swaim. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Turner; sisters, Helen Robbins, Essie Mae Mathis, Catherine Swaim; Brother, Frankie Swaim; sister-in-laws, Darlene “Sis” Swaim, Carrie Ann Swaim, Grace Swaim; brother-in-laws, Hal Robbins, Bill Mathis, and Rob Long.
Mary enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and working in her flowers. She was a faithful member of Mountain Grove UMC. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, J.C. (Inez) Turner, Vicky Holbrook (Michael) Pinnix; grandchildren, Yvonne Turner (Richard) Cockerham, Jason (Maryann) Holbrook, Joshua Holbrook; great-grandchildren, Lillian Cockerham, TJ Holbrook, Marshall Hutchins, Caleb Hutchins, Ryleigh Cornwell; brothers, Tommy Swaim and Fred Swaim.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff of Pruitt Health of Elkin and Dr. Soos for all of their loving care of Mrs. Turner.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 11 AM at Mountain Grove UMC officiated by Rev. Chris Alford and Rev. Greg Freeman. Mary will lie in state from 10:30 am until 11 am at the church prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8 pm at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville on Sunday, September 20, 2022. Online condolences may be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
