Mrs. Mary Francis Gough Wilmoth, 86, passed away on April 13, 2025. She was born on May 25, 1938 in Yadkin County to the late John Gough and Nina Sizemore Gough. Mary enjoyed going to the YMCA to do water aerobics and especially loved going when it was volleyball day. In her free time, she enjoyed reading. She also loved going to the beach with her grandkids and visits from the grandkids and their dogs.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James Cletus Wilmoth; her sister, Lois Pardue; and her brothers, Gilbert Gough, Buddy Gough, and Bobby Gough. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Kevin) Smitherman; grandchildren, Whitney Smitherman and Kayla Smitherman; brothers, Jerrell (Linda) Gough, and Paul Gough (Margaret Vandereidt); sister-in-law, Jackie Gough; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Mary will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Gentry Family Chapel of Yadkinville with Rev. Mitchell See and Rev. Jon Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Burial will follow at Mitchell's Chapel Church Cemetery.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. The family would also like to extend their thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice of Yadkinville for their love and care over Mary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal rescue shelter, veterans association, Joy FM Radio Station, or the Mitchell’s Chapel Church cemetery fund.
