Mary Colie Wooten

Wooten East Bend-Mary C Wooten, 87, daughter of Sherman and Lola Colie of Lenoir County passed away November 21, 2020 peacefully. She graduated from New Hope High School in 1951 and Guilford College in 1955. She taught school for 37 years, mostly in Yadkin County. She was married to Thomas Y Wooten in 1958. She moved to Yadkin County where she still made her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Thomas Y. Wooten, and a daughter Mary Lynn Wooten in 2006. She is survived by two sons, Eric Wooten of East Bend NC and Sterling Wooten of Boiling Springs, SC; a daughter-in-law Sharon Kazlo; and a granddaughter Sydney Wooten both of Boiling Springs, SC. She is also survived by several brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, and their children. She will be available for viewing and signing the register book on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Gentry Family Funeral Home in East Bend between the hours of 11am to 5pm. A private graveside service will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer’s charities or one of your preferred charities or churches is appreciated.
