Ms. Maxie Baity Caudle, 97, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023. She was born in Yadkin County on September 30, 1925 to Floyd I. Baity and Carrie W. Baity. Maxie was a member of South Oak Ridge Baptist Church. She always had a servant’s heart, and served her church and her community well. Maxie enjoyed flowers, gardening, and cooking. She loved to travel in her younger years, and she still enjoyed riding to the mountains as often as she was able to. Maxie was a caregiver up until the age of 88. She loved her dog, Brownie and her special bunny. Maxie never met a stranger. More than anything, she loved and cared so well for her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Adelene Baity White, Thurman Baity, Raymond Baity, Clifton Baity, Thad Baity, and Helen Baity Barnes; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a son-in-law, Ray Athan. She is survived by three children, Brenda Athan, Debbie (Kenneth) Shepherd, and Robbie Caudle; grandchildren, Danny (Jamie) Athan, John (Tanya) Athan, Sean Dean Caudle, Ashley (Justin) Markey, and Jake Brown; great-grandchildren, Brooke Athan (Daniel Lambert), Hannah Athan (Tyler Nations), Mason (Madeline) Athan, Chance Dean Abel, and Autumn Markey; great-great-grandchildren, Hadley Athan, Ivy Athan, Tenley Lambert, and Jude Athan, who is due to be born in August; and numerous nieces and nephews.
