Maxie Brann Dixon

Dixon East Bend - Maxie Brann Dixon, 85, of Hennings Road passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at her home. She was born October 3, 1937 in Yadkin County to the late Wade Eugene and Margaret Elvina Speer Brann. Mrs. Dixon received her Bachelors Degree from Appalachian State Teachers College and her Masters Degree from Appalachian State University. She spent several years as a teacher of Adult Basic Literacy at Forsyth Technical College. Mrs. Dixon loved to teach. She was a 4-H leader for several years, was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church of Clemmons, and was a former member of Enon Baptist Church where she served the church as Church Clerk. She also originated and operated a Kindergarten Class at Enon Baptist Church until it was taken over by the public school systems. Surviving are her beloved husband of 60 years, Michael P. Dixon, Sr., of the home; her daughter, Myra Dixon Smith and husband, James of East Bend; her son, Michael P. “Mike” Dixon, Jr and wife, Rebecca of Black Mountain, NC; and several cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Saturday at Enon Baptist Church. Her funeral Service will follow the visitation at 3 PM Saturday in Enon Baptist Church by Rev. Bobby Watts. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baptist Childrens Home, PO Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27361.
