Michael “Mike” Barry Carter, Sr., 81, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, April 19, 2019. He was born in Forsyth County on September 22, 1937 to Numa Brown and Kate Cumbie Carter. Mr. Carter served in the US Army in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Clemmons. Mike enjoyed Dr. Pepper, ice cream, and all sports on commercial-free on TV. He played baseball and football. One of Mike’s favorite past times was driving his old red jeep wearing his cowboy hat with his dogs. His granddaughters were the love of his life. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a sister, Polly Sue King. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Holder Carter; his two children, Angela Michelle Carter and Michael “Barry” Carter, Jr. and his wife Karen; two grandchildren Madison Leigh Carter and Grace Sinclaire Carter. His memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 5:30 PM at Union Hill Baptist Church in Clemmons with Pastor Christopher Burcham officiating. The family will receive friends at 5:00 prior to the memorial service.
