Hamptonville Mr. Michael Kent Simcox, 70, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Simcox was born May 28, 1948 in Iredell County to the late Mary Simcox Elledge. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in the Vietnam War. Mr. Simcox is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Judy Matthews Simcox; a daughter, Michelle (Gene) Brooks; a granddaughter, MyKenna Brooks; two sisters, Wanda (Donnie) Martin and Lynn (Mark) Newman; a brother, Dale (Shirley) Hatcher; two sisters-in-law, Lula (Jim) Wooten and Sue Cates; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00AM, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at West Yadkin Baptist Church. Military honors will be provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to A Light in the Darkness Outreach Ministry PO Box 118 Union Grove, NC 28689 in honor of his special granddaughter MyKenna Brooks who was the light of his life.
