On the morning of May 7, 2019, Mitchell Scott Cave was called to his heavenly home. He was a follower of Jesus Christ and believed in his salvation through Him. He now rests in His glory. Mitchell was born on January 26, 1975, to Steven Webb Cave and Phyllis Bryant Cave, of Yadkin County, NC. His childhood years were spent playing, causing mischief, and doing all the things sweet little boys do. He graduated from Starmount High School in 1993, where he made life-long friends who were always treasured. A love of flying and airplanes led him to receive his Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification and eventually to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he got his private pilot license and Flight Dispatch certification. Mitchell was employed with Omni Air International, where he worked faithfully and diligently for the past 20+ years. He served as Vice President of System Operations Control and developed a work family who loved and supported him throughout his time there. His leadership and guidance inspired the entire organization. Mitchell made a home with the love of his life, Angela Alexander, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Together, they parented and cherished two sons, Mitchell and Landon Longacre. His sweet family brought Mitch tremendous joy. Even though he was 1,000 miles away, Mitch never allowed himself to separate from those who loved him in North Carolina. He was a faithful and loving son who spoke almost daily with his mom, Phyllis. He always shared his life with her and took loving care of her. “Uncle Mitch” was adored by Stephanie, Jody, and Hunter, who treasured each and every minute blessed with him. Mitchell so enjoyed duck hunting with his “brother” Eric and spending time with him, Stephanie, Ragan, and Camden. Distance never diminished the love his family shared. There was no one like Mitchell. God made him so special. He loved playing with his fur babies, listening to all kinds of music, fishing, cooking, traveling, and taking new adventures. He had the greatest personality, making those near him happy to be there. There were always laughs and smiles when he was around. Mitchell led his life in a gracious and generous way. Perceptive to the needs of others, he always gave selflessly of himself. He was always the first to offer assistance, the first to give a hug, the first to give up his seat. He was honest and loyal… his handshake was his word and his word was golden. Mitchell is survived by his love, Angela Alexander; sons, Mitchell and Landon Longacre; mother, Phyllis Cave; sister, Stephanie Christopherson; brother-in-law, Jody Christopherson; nephew, Hunter Christopherson; grandmother, Georgie Bryant; grandmother, Pauline Cave; uncle, Eddie Bryant; aunt, Sharon Cave; and several cousins. Preceding Mitch in death were his father, Steven W. Cave; both of his grandfathers, William “Bill” Bryant and Rufus Cave; and his uncle, Gary Cave. There is no way to fully honor such a wonderful man. He made this world a better place for 44 years and his love and legacy continues to live on in the sweet memories held by loved ones. We are thankful to God for sharing him with us. His funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019, at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Mosteller officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-11:45 a.m. on Monday, prior to the service, at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to Shady Grove Baptist Church Restoration Fund. Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Cave family.
