Nancy Groce Mackie

Yadkinville Mrs. Nancy Matilda Groce Mackie, 97, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at Yadkin Nursing Center. Mrs. Mackie was born May 4, 1923 in Yadkin County to Floyd and Bessie Shore Groce. She was a member of Maplewood Baptist Church. Mrs. Mackie enjoyed cooking, traveling, quilting, and playing golf with the Tanglewood ladies. She volunteered with Yadkin Christian Ministries and Hoots Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mackie was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Dallas Mackie and seven siblings. She is survived by two children, Debra “Debbie” Mackie and Steve Mackie; special “daughter” Diane Blackburn; a sister, Margaret (Ralph) Smoot; and several nieces and nephews. Due to Covid 19, a memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Smile Train, PO Box 96231 Washington, D.C. 20090-6231 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Yadkin Nursing Center for the loving care given to Mrs. Mackie.
